The Choir rehearses.

Membership

Admission to the Yorkshire Bach Choir is by audition. Being a chamber sized choir, there are usually only limited vacancies, but it may still be worth considering an audition. This will be with the choir’s conductor, Peter Seymour, who will need to hear three or four songs. The choice of repertoire is left to the candidate.

The choir rehearses on Friday evenings from 7 till between 9.30 and 10pm at the University of York during university term time, usually for the four weeks before a concert; on the Saturday afternoon of the concert the penultimate and final rehearsal is at St Michael le Belfrey. There are some concerts outside term time, usually in July, when the choir may perform at one or more festivals. Members are expected to make a commitment to attend all rehearsals and concerts unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Subject to vacancies, membership is open to anyone who has the ability to contribute at the choir’s core standards of high performance, regardless of any other factors.

If you would like to audition, please contact Peter Seymour with suggested times when you might be available.
